Abstract

This article aims to investigate the role of futurology in the formation of art policy in the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is based on the text of the policy. The present study examines these political changes and developments in recent decades with the aim of what is the role of futurology in the formation of cultural and artistic policy discourse in Iran. In particular, it will focus on the art of Horizon 1417, as the impact of technology on the arts of later decades has been emphasized by the country's art policy makers. Therefore, the main question of the present study is what was the background, causes, consequences and context of the formation of futurology in this decade? The concept of futures studies and policy-making has been defined using a qualitative method based on a grounded approach (grounded theory) and documentary library studies. In this regard, scientific documents and the compilation of opinions of experts using the Delphi method deal with the role of future research in the field of art and provide theoretical and practical solutions. The results show how futurism sustains values and cultural cohesion by curbing change. Contemporary art futures studies offers a good way to promote the status of art, identify future opportunities and threats by relying on scientific developments and emerging and creative technologies.
