Abstract

Every discourse is exposed to dislocation and instability after emergence and hegemony. The purpose of this study is to study and analyze the discourse of moderation. In the present article, an attempt has been made to answer the questions of what factors played a role in the formation of the discourse of moderation by using the method of Laclau and Mouffe discourse analysis and data collection by library and documentary methods. And then to answer the main question, why did the discourse of moderation falter? The findings of the article show that the initial formation of this discourse was the result of unrest and hesitation in the dominant and rival discourse and at the same time the emergence of a new political subject in the country's political arena, which was able to move from "right to left" in a strategic move. It gained the support of elites and political groups opposed to the rival discourse and formed the basic nuclei of the discourse of moderation. But in the continuation of this discourse, due to the weakness of the power of discourse and the lack of new elements and concepts to create a chain of equivalence and create a new and cohesive communication identity, succeeded in cohesion and unity between political groups and pro-sectarian sections of society to pursue goals. It was not considered and finally it was shaken and could not become hegemonic in the political arena of the country in the long run.
