Deterrence Strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in West Asia (2011-2020)

Abstract

Islamic Revolution, especially after the events of 2011 (Arab developments), Iran has always been an active and effective presence in the region in order to increase security and implement a deterrent strategy based on strategic regional stability in the declared policies. And has considered actions. In the current period, with the increasing importance of regions, the hegemonic system for military presence, support for regional plans, prevention and confrontation of various threats and application of deterrence system, the establishment of military bases in the regions as a tool to exercise power is necessary. Iran's presence in different parts of the world, including West Asia (Middle East) as one of the important and strategic regions, in the form of various military bases (land, air, sea, etc.) is conceivable. These bases are at the forefront of the country's military and security efforts to dominate different parts of the world and to remain in the strategic cycle of power. Therefore, while using the documents, the article is used by descriptive, analytical method and its purpose is to provide various dimensions of deterrence strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in West Asia as a result of the Islamic Revolution in West Asia and the world. Accordingly, the results showed that the deterrent strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in West Asia is based on alliance with pro-Iranian Shiite forces and strengthening the axes of the resistance front, which has resulted in increasing the national power of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
