Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and metacognition on reducing rumination in depressed patients. For this purpose, first, by available sampling method among patients referred to Motamedi Hospital and Roshna Counseling Center, who received a diagnosis of mental rumination based on clinical interview and also based on research scales, have mental rumination symptoms for They were registered, 36 of those who met the necessary criteria to participate in the study were studied and randomly divided into three groups of 12, including I1 test 2 test (depressed patients with Rumination) and control I (depressed patients with rumination) were replaced. In the next step, Nolen-Hoxma and Moro (1991) mental rumination questionnaire was performed on the subjects of all three groups and the obtained scores were considered as pre-test scores. Then, the members of I1 experimental groups, in 8 treatment sessions once a week, which lasted about 1.5 hours, under the intervention of "mindfulness-based cognitive therapy" and the members of I2 experimental groups in Eight sessions of treatment once a week, lasting about 1.5 hours, underwent "metacognitive therapy" intervention; This was while the subjects in control group I did not receive any intervention. The results showed that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is effective in reducing mental rumination in depressed patients. However, no significant difference was observed between the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy intervention and metacognitive therapy on reducing rumination in depressed patients. Metacognitive therapy is also effective in reducing mental rumination in depressed patients.
