Investigating the components of a multicultural curriculum from the perspective of experts in this field in Iran

Abstract

Paying attention to diversity, creating educational equality and respecting different cultures is important for intercultural awareness. The purpose of this study is to determine the basic components of a multicultural curriculum from the perspective of experts in the field of multiculturalism. The research method is a combination of directional content analysis and survey. This research has two statistical communities, the first of which includes 243 Persian and Latin works in the period of 1380 to 1397 and 2003 to 2017 in the field of multicultural curriculum and the second of domestic specialists with at least one work in the field of multicultural education. Purposeful sampling method was selected from the criterion type of 100 scientific works and 20 internal specialists. The data collection tool was a content analysis checklist and a researcher-made questionnaire. The data were calculated based on the Tiglar agreement coefficient. Findings showed that out of 153 components studied, 37 components were identified as the basic components of a multicultural curriculum.
