Analysis of the Relation between Internal and External Media on Electoral Participation (Case study: Citizens 18 years and older in Tehran)

Abstract

The research attempts to answer the question that how the media, such as television, satellite, and radio, affects the level of participation in elections? The statistical population of the present study consisted of all Tehran citizens who were at least 18 years of age. Sampling method in this research was multi-stage cluster sampling. In this research, 700 questionnaires were evaluated and analyzed. A questionnaire tool was also used to collect information. Research findings show that the impact of television (0.336) on electoral participation is greater than the impact of radio (0.157) on electoral participation. Satellite impact on electoral participation is at its lowest (0.154) compared to television and radio. It should be noted that the impact of the above media on electoral participation is positive.
