Abstract

Today, with the mediation of politics, a significant part of political activities is done through the media and especially online spaces. This study aimed to study the relationship between the variables of political socialization, political awareness and political effectiveness on online and offline political participation among students of Shiraz University and using structural equation modelling. Accordingly, 390 students completed a questionnaire using a stratified random sampling method appropriate to the selected volume and questionnaire. In all three models, the relationship between political awareness and total political participation and participation in online and offline space was not significant and there was only an indirect effect. But on the other hand, the relationship between political effectiveness with total political participation and online participation is significant, and here the political effectiveness of the mediating variable has affected the relationship between the two variables. Findings: The results of the research model test show that political socialization had the highest significant relationship with the dependent variable (political participation) (Beta = 56%). Also, the test of the research model indicates that the sum of independent research variables could explain 45% (R2 = 45%) of the changes in the research dependent variable, ie students' political participation
