Political Sociology of Sport: Identifying and Prioritizing the Factors Linking Politics and Sport

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify and prioritize the factors linking politics and sport. This research was combined in terms of method and in terms of type of research, deductive-inductive and statistical population of the research was 25 professors of political science and sports with purposeful sampling and also a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.

The results of the research consist of two parts, in the first part a set of factors linking politics and sports has been identified and in the second part the importance and priority of these factors have been determined. The results showed that 12 factors were effective link between politics and sports. Gaining international prestige and prestige with an average of phase decoupling (/ 743),Demonstrating the high capability of the government with an average of decapitation (.735), increasing social control with an average of decapitation (.728), propagating ideas and ideology with an average of decapitation (.725), and increasing political participation of the people with an average of decapitation (.718). Respectively, the most important and strengthening national solidarity with the average phase of decompression (0.640) and strengthening the sense of patriotism with the average of phase decapitation (.668) were the least important of these factors.
