Future study of factors affecting youth electoral participation in presidential elections

Abstract

Elections as one of the most important methods of selecting political elites in today's world are considered from different perspectives. The expansion of cyberspace and the complexity of election campaigns have caused the methods of directing the public vote to move away from the previous space of the political world and enter new areas. The 11th and 12th presidential elections in Iran were among the elections that there were media debates and even economic scandals surrounding it. Despite considering other variables affecting the presence and participation of youth in the presidential election, the purpose of this study is to study the factors affecting youth participation in the presidential election based on a study of factors affecting youth participation in the 11th and 12th presidential elections. This research is a descriptive research based on the result and purpose, applied research in terms of method, and in terms of data collection from the survey branch. According to the sample size, 384 questionnaires were prepared and given to people who voted for Hassan Rouhani to collect information. Analyzes based on the data collected using statistical techniques, it was concluded that the broadcast of special election programs on television on average has changed the opinion of voters to participate in the elections.
