Abstract

Over the years, the Syrian crisis has become one of the most complex political issues in the sensitive region of the Middle East. This crisis has paved the way for the influence of regional and supra-regional powers. One of these supra-regional powers is the United States. US foreign policy in the face of the Syrian crisis has been highly ambiguous. The United States has sought to strengthen some of its ethnic identities, including Kurdish parties, in an effort to influence its position in developments in Syria. With this in mind, the main question of the article is: What are the components of US foreign policy towards Kurdish parties in Syria after 2011? The central hypothesis is that US foreign policy toward Syrian Kurdish parties has been based on efforts to establish political order as well as cut off the influence of powers such as Russia and Turkey. The results of the article show that during the Syrian crisis, the United States is seeking to empower Kurdish parties in the country in order to increase its power in the region in addition to weakening rival countries. At times, however, opposition from countries such as Russia and Turkey has prevented the United States from pursuing its own interests. The type of research method is descriptive-analytical and based on library studies.
