Investigating the migration phenomenon from the perspective of government students (Sharif and Science and Technology)

Abstract

Immigration phenomenon is one of the important social issues for which sociologists and social issues scholars are trying to find the variables influencing the same. As one of the major topics in humanistic and social sciences, immigration is a phenomenon occurs both in developed and developing countries and the difference is in the relevant bases of this phenomenon emergence. The purpose of this research includes studying Immigration Phenomenon according to Students of Two Governmental Universities (Sharif University of Technology & Iran University of Science & Technology). This research is practical and descriptive-correlative in terms of purpose, and data collection method, respectively. Statistical population of this research includes all students of Sharif University of Technology & Iran University of Science & Technology, out of whom 379 persons were selected as statistical sample size using Cochran Formula. Simple random sampling was used to select samples. Two descriptive (central tendency and variance) and inferential (correlation and regression) measures were applied for data analysis using SPSS software. The findings results indicate that there is a positive and meaningful relation between lifestyle (r=0.85), social class (r=0.70), hope to the future (r=0.65), educational system (r=0.70), having relatives abroad and encouragement to leave (r=0.60) and students attitude concerning immigration phenomenon.
