Investigating the impact of structural adjustment programs on social inequality with a metacombination approach

Abstract

The issue of inequality is one of the most important issues at this time and in the realm of social studies. In this article, the results of research on inequality after the implementation of structural adjustment programs by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in different countries are examined and evaluated with a meta-composite approach. were renewed and the main themes, model and explanation of its reproduction mechanism are presented. For this purpose, after screening several times, the number of 33 books, theses and articles obtained from the databases between 2000 and 2020 were extracted and the results were analyzed using the six-step metacombination method. The innovation of this article is that the analysis and synthesis of the results is used in the fourth step of synthesis with the aforementioned method in addition to descriptive analysis based on statistical data. The main themes obtained, acceleration in polarization, social inequality, reproduction of new classes, reproduction of political control, reproduction of economic control, reproduction of symbolic control and the remaining class are under the rules of structural adjustment, which together with the secondary themes in the model in the form of a diagram It is a branch. The explanation of the model and how its mechanism is derived from Bourdieu's theory of symbolic capital, Ufe's theory of political authority, and Althusser's theory of reproduction of social structures.
